Garret: So Mom’s been telling me to study more, so how about we go down to the coffee shop, get some mochas, and crack open a text book with some people from school?

Kaylee: A mocha is exactly what I need right now! Who are these people though?

Garret: Just some people I’ve met around. They’re pretty cool. Just don’t ever invite them around the house, or the Red-haired Banshee will never let me hear the end of it.

Kaylee: Why? What would Her Royal Bitchiness not approve of?

Garret: They’re just some of the more…alternative people around school. Get in trouble a lot, flaunt the dress code, things like that. [snooty voice] Not at all suitable for the companionship of my precious children!

Kaylee: [laughing] I need to meet these people asap.

After School

Garret: Hey, Kay. Why so down?

Kaylee: [sigh] It was just a long day, man.

Garret: Nothing the best twin hug in the world can’t fix! Come here.

Kaylee: Thanks Garret. Twin hugs fix everything.

I feel like Alyse got off work early just to make sure Kaylee didn’t change at school.

Alyse: Oh, now that’s lovely. Why can’t you just wear something like that every day?

I hate this I hate this I hate this

Kaylee: I’m gonna be late. Good bye, Mother. Bye Dad!

Alyse: See Nathaniel, that wasn’t so difficult.

Nathaniel: She looks miserable!

Alyse: No, she looks like a respectable young lady, the daughter of a top politician and a- mail technician.

Nathaniel: Don’t start on that again. And besides, shouldn’t you be getting ready to leave as well?

Nathaniel: Morning Allie 😉

Alyse: Not now Nathaniel, Kaylee stop eating and go get ready for school, I want to approve your attire before you leave.

Nathaniel: Alyse, just let her wear what she wants-

Alyse: Stay out of this Nathaniel. Kaylee and I have come to an understanding, so she is going to go get ready and then I am going to approve what she’s wearing.

Kaylee: It’s fine Dad. Mom’s right, we came to an…understanding…about what I wear to school.

Nathaniel: …And what was this understanding?

Kaylee: Just forget about it Dad. I’m gonna get ready now.

Nathaniel: You’re too hard on her. And what is this arrangement you’ve made with your own d- child?

Alyse: Leave it Nathaniel, Kaylee’s just learning that if she wants a place in this house, she needs to follow whatever rules her parents set for her.

Nathaniel: You mean what rules you set for her.

Alyse: Oh, shut up Nathaniel, she’s coming.

Nathaniel: Alright…be caring and supportive, let them do the talking…use the pronouns they tell you, ok. But what do I tell Alyse?

I was going to make it that both Nathaniel and Alyse were strict and hoity-toity people, but I like Nathaniel more as the chill dad just trying to understand his kid.
