Zoe told him her feelings, that she’s had these feelings since they were kids in school, and Gavin, in his heartbroken state, opened his eyes and became infatuated with her. He told her he had been an idiot, that he had felt this way deep down, all along. And then he kissed her.
Z: So she just walked out? She didn’t even say goodbye?
G: Nope. She left a note on the dining table saying she was ‘staying at a friend’s house.’ Question is, which friend?
Z: Listen Gav, I realize that this may sound harsh, but you two really haven’t been married that long, and for her to be looking for it somewhere else already…I don’t know man, sounds to me like she’s not committed to this, and if I were you, which I’m not, I would leave her. She’s clearly happy with someone else.
G: [exhales] You’re right…
Z: I know it hurts Gav, but you’ll get past this. You’ll find someone who’s devoted to you, someone who appreciates you…someone who’s in love with you more than she loves herself…And who knows, maybe she’s been right next to you all along.
G: You’re ri-wait what?
Z: [blushes] Maybe she’s been right next to you your whole life…
10 months ago, after Athena left
Z: Hey Gavin! How’s my favorite ex-roomie?
G: Grrrrr.
Z: How about we watch some clouds like old times, and tell me what’s on your mind, oh Mr.Grumpy-pants.
G: [exhales] My wife and I-
Z: Wait, you got married without me?
G: Let me talk woman!
Z: Sorry.
G: My wife and I are having some problems. I’m pretty sure she’s cheating on me, but she says he’s just a friend…
He continued to tell her about his suspicions about Athena and Jacques’ relationship, and then about how their marriage fell apart. They talked until it became too hot to lay there anymore, so Zoe invited him inside to continue their chat.
I thought he was dating Zoe Patel?…Malcolm told me he saw them together a few months ago…
B: Athena! Wait, where are you going? I’m sure Cassie didn’t mean…
B: Oh, Lily, I’m glad you could join us!
L: I wouldn’t miss our weekly gossip for the world. [looks over] ATHENA!!!! When did you get back in town?!
N: I was wondering that as well. Geoffrey got the invite to your dinner club, by the way, and when he told me, I couldn’t believe it. Where have you been?
A: Oh, after mommy and papa died, I did a little soul searching in Windenberg. It was great. But I’ve been back for a bit. I actually got married and now I have a baby.
B: That’s great Athena. Who did you marry? What’s the baby’s name?
A: My husband is Gavin Richards, the author, and our daughter’s name is Bethany. She should be aging up soon too.
[Cassandra wanders in]
C: Gavin Richards, I thought he was dating Zoe Patel?
B: Cassandra, shh. I’m sure your information’s faulty. Gavin and Zoe used to be roommates, so I’m sure that’s it.
C: I don’t think so mom. Malcolm told me he saw them together a few months ago in Oasis Springs.
A: Bella! Hey, Bella!
B: Oh, Athena! Long time, no see. What are you doing here?
A: I was in the neighborhood, thought I’d meet the new family that moved in next door, but no one was home, so I thought I’d drop in and say hello.
B: Come on in then. I invited some of the gals around for a nice gossip. You know how they are.
A: I missed you all so much, a catch up with old friends would be great.
A: The Goths live right next door, guess I’ll just wait at the park until Bella and Mortimer get home.

A: It’s Mrs. actually, and the dog tag was my papa’s. He’s been gone for years, but I wear it to remember him by.
