Alyse: Oh, now that’s lovely. Why can’t you just wear something like that every day?

I hate this I hate this I hate this

Kaylee: I’m gonna be late. Good bye, Mother. Bye Dad!

Alyse: See Nathaniel, that wasn’t so difficult.

Nathaniel: She looks miserable!

Alyse: No, she looks like a respectable young lady, the daughter of a top politician and a- mail technician.

Nathaniel: Don’t start on that again. And besides, shouldn’t you be getting ready to leave as well?

Nathaniel: Morning Allie 😉

Alyse: Not now Nathaniel, Kaylee stop eating and go get ready for school, I want to approve your attire before you leave.

Nathaniel: Alyse, just let her wear what she wants-

Alyse: Stay out of this Nathaniel. Kaylee and I have come to an understanding, so she is going to go get ready and then I am going to approve what she’s wearing.

Kaylee: It’s fine Dad. Mom’s right, we came to an…understanding…about what I wear to school.

Nathaniel: …And what was this understanding?

Kaylee: Just forget about it Dad. I’m gonna get ready now.

Nathaniel: You’re too hard on her. And what is this arrangement you’ve made with your own d- child?

Alyse: Leave it Nathaniel, Kaylee’s just learning that if she wants a place in this house, she needs to follow whatever rules her parents set for her.

Nathaniel: You mean what rules you set for her.

Alyse: Oh, shut up Nathaniel, she’s coming.

Nathaniel: Alright…be caring and supportive, let them do the talking…use the pronouns they tell you, ok. But what do I tell Alyse?

I was going to make it that both Nathaniel and Alyse were strict and hoity-toity people, but I like Nathaniel more as the chill dad just trying to understand his kid.

Alyse: Kaylee…

Kaylee: Yes, Mother?

Alyse: I seriously hope you didn’t wear those awful clothes to school.

Kaylee: [long sigh] Mom, will you just let it go? I like these clothes and I’m going to wear them. Can we just drop it?

Alyse: Absolutely not! I expect you to conduct yourself in a proper fashion in order to reflect on this family positively, and I will not tolerate this insolence anymore! Either clean up your act, or you will not be welcome here anymore!

Kaylee: What are you saying?

Alyse: Tomorrow you will wear a dress, and makeup, and I expect you to behave as a young lady should! No more of this tom boy nonsense! I don’t care if you don’t like it, it is what you are going to do or you’ll be out on your ear!

Defeated, Kaylee knew they had no choice but to comply.

Kaylee: Fine, I’ll wear a dress. But I’m not wearing my hair down.

Alyse: Fine. Now off to bed, a lady needs her beauty sleep.

Garret: Get rekt you sucky AI!

Nathaniel: Care if I join? That way you can wreck your old man, not just a bunch of pixels.

Garret: Sure Pops.

Garret:

Garret: Dad, I think Kaylee isn’t a girl.

Nathaniel: Wh-what? Your sister is a girl, that’s what sister means.

Garret: No, Dad, I-I think Kaylee’s trans.

Nathaniel:

Nathaniel: Don’t tell your mother.

Garret: Are you gonna tell her?

Nathaniel: God no! She’d kick Kaylee out in a heartbeat. Just, let me work on it, okay?

Garret: ‘kay.

Exactly what Kaylee was afraid of.
