Matais: Athena, I’m sorry I couldn’t find him.
Athena: Mati, don’t beat yourself up about it, it’s fine. I’m fine. Really.
She offers him a small smile.
Matais: I just…feel like I failed you. I’m sorr-
Athena: Mati. Stop. I knew when you didn’t find him after a few weeks that you probably never would. I’ve made my peace with it. I’ve moved on.

It had been six months since the disappearance.
Athena decided to finally hold the funeral.
Another Month Passes
Parent group meetings had become Matais’ favorite part of the week, other than Saturday morning breakfasts with Parker of course. They were the only time he ever got to see…her. He was so busy at the station lately. And it would be inappropriate to go to her house if not related to the investigation. So Matais waited for their weekly meetings with baited breath, all for the chance to see her.
A: Hey Matais! How was Parker’s recital?
She had leaned in to hug him, and of course he couldn’t refuse. This was the closest he had been to her in a very long while. He liked it, but he knew he shouldn’t. The investigation was still pending. He was still looking for her husband. He couldn’t let his feelings for her get in the way of the search for Gavin. He might still be out there somewhere, although every part of Matais wished that Gavin would remain missing for all eternity.
A: Matais, you gonna answer me? How was the piano recital?
M: (blushing) Oh, it was great. The piece she played was pretty advanced, or so her teacher tells me. I really don’t know. But she played beautifully.
A: I’m sure she did. Now let’s head up and meet up with the others. You know I love hearing Mila tell us all about the woes of an adult son still living at home.
M: Yeah, right…you think Raymon’s gonna be late again?
A: He always is. Considering the man has to come all the way from Newcrest, I’m not surprised.
Laughing, the two headed upstairs to join the other parents Matais had gotten to join his group, and like always, Raymon was indeed late.
A: Morning Cap’n. How’d the ‘lead’ go?
M: Daniels, unless you want to be a beat cop for a week, I suggest you shut your trap.
A: Wow Mati, pulling rank. What’s got you panties in a twist?
Matais approached the case map at the end of the room that was still woefully empty. He added Ms. Johnson’s report to it just to feel like he did something productive today.
M: I just want to solve this case man, is that too much to ask without everyone jumping down my throat about my ‘ulterior motives?’
A: …Mati, bro, I realize that you want to solve this case, but take a step back and ask yourself why. Why do you care so much about this Gavin Richards guy, or better yet,why do you care so much about if he’s alive or dead?
M: Austin, this is a missing persons’ case, you know we can’t just ignore-
A: Matais, listen to me. It’s been months and I think we all know, Athena included, that you’re not gonna find him. Tell her so…And maybe bring a bottle of wine to celebrate. 😉
M: Austin, the woman just lost her husband, I’m not just gonna-
A: She had already lost her husband, Matais. I’m sure she’s made her peace with it. If it will make your conscience feel better, tell her to mourn. Tell her it’s time to hold the funeral.
One Month Later
M: I’m just saying, O’Maley. I highly doubt that Ms. Johnson has any information on the Richards’ case, we all know she that she rarely leaves the house. How would she know anything about a disappearance in Granite Falls?
O’M: I told you, sir, that we didn’t have to follow every lead that comes into the station, We didn’t have to come here, that was your idea. So stop complaining…sir.
M: Are you suggesting that we just ignore possible leads O’Maley.
E: That’s not what she’s saying Mati, and you know it. We just think that you seem to be a bit…obsessed with finding out what happened to Gavin Richards. Or rather, maybe a bit obsessed with finding out if Mrs. Craven is newly single.
M: Shut up Officer Pancakes, that’s an order. 😡
E: Of course, sir.
Ms. J: It was aliens, I know it! I saw the ship hovering over the harbor the day it happened!
M: Thank you Ms. Johnson, I believe we have all we need.
M: *sigh* Not a word O’Maley, let’s just get back to the station.
M: Just came for a bit of R&R, to be honest.
A: But why all the way in Windenburg?
M: I could ask you the same 😉
A: Bella brought me out to try and…keep my mind off things.
M: Athena, I’m so sorry that we haven’t found anything yet. But I swear, I’ll-I mean we’ll keep trying to find him.
A: I know you will Matais.
M: …
M: Well now that I’ve properly ruined the mood, can I buy you a drink?
Bella had left an hour ago. She had been worried about leaving Athena alone at the bar without someone to keep her company. Athena reassured her that she was fine and would be leaving soon. Really the only reason that she was still here was that she had a feeling that something would happen…
M: Hey Athena, what are you doing here?
A: I could ask you the same question.

With Cats & Dogs coming out soon I wanted to release the version that I’ve been working on for the last couple months. I’ll be updating again with version 3.0 after The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs comes out.
So what’s different?
- The Get To Work lots are renovated! The hospital, police station, and science lab are all shiny and new. Except not new. Just fixed.
- I also went in and fixed Granite Falls. I renovated all of the lots a tiny bit and placed a new bar.
- I replaced a couple townies with better ones and also placed all of EA’s Sims from the most recent trailers. Not all of the trailer Sims have houses (boo, there aren’t enough lots), but they’re all in the world.
- Some previous lots and households have been updated to include Fitness Stuff, Toddler Stuff, and Parenthood.
